CAREERS IN GHANA

Careers in Ghana is mainly based on education, skills acquired (apprenticeship) and through professional training. The informal sector forms the largest section of the Ghanaian workforce. This is attributed to the limited level of education of citizens and this is also due to the fact that, over sixty percent of the population is made up of people over the age of fifty, most of whom had little education because during their time, only a few had access to better and higher education. even now there are challenges with education and skills acquisition, because a large number of basic school leavers who do not get access to senior high education are left with no better option of furthering their education. this situation pushes basic school leavers to enter into skills acquisition centers to learn a particular trade. most of the trades learned are: hair dressing, carpentry, masonry, mechanics popular called "fitters", dress making, painting, welding etc.
